Getting Started at Lifeline
Starting counseling can bring up a lot of questions. You might be wondering what to say, how it works, or whether it will really help. That’s completely normal. At Lifeline, we believe healing begins with feeling safe, understood, and supported. We’re here to walk alongside you at your pace.
Before Your First Session
Once you request an appointment, our team will reach out to confirm details and answer any questions. You’ll complete a few simple intake forms online so your therapist can begin to understand your needs.
Your First Appointment
The first session is about getting to know you. You can share as much or as little as you feel ready to. Your therapist may ask questions about what brings you in, your history, and what you’re hoping for. There is no pressure to tell your whole story right away.
Ongoing Sessions
Counseling is a collaborative process. Some days may feel reflective and slow. Others may feel active and goal-focused. We will create a treatment plan personalized to you and adjust based on what you need.
Our Approach
Lifeline is built around real connection and genuine care. Our therapists are trauma-informed and trained in a wide range of modalities, which means we consider your nervous system, your experiences, and your story as part of the whole picture.

We meet you where you are. Whether you are navigating anxiety, burnout, relationship stress, grief, trauma, or simply feeling stuck, we work together to create a plan that supports your growth.

We also believe healing and well-being are holistic. That’s why all Lifeline clients receive access to free wellness resources through The LiveWell Community, including two in-person classes each month, unlimited online classes, and access to our growing library of supportive resources. These offerings are designed to help you care for your body, mind, and nervous system between therapy sessions, so your healing is supported in more than one way.
What if I don’t know what to say?
That’s okay. You don’t need to come in with a plan or the “right” words. Your therapist will help guide the conversation, and you can share at your own pace.
Is counseling only for “big” problems?
Not at all. People come to counseling for many reasons, including stress, burnout, life transitions, relationship challenges, or simply wanting more support. You don’t have to be in crisis to benefit.
What if I feel nervous before my first appointment?
Feeling nervous is completely normal. Many people feel unsure or anxious before starting. We’ll meet you with warmth and care, and you’re welcome to bring exactly how you’re feeling into the room.
How long does counseling last?
It varies. Some people come for a few months around a specific issue. Others choose longer-term support. We’ll regularly check in about what feels helpful.
Do you work with children, teens, couples, or families?
Yes. Our therapists support individuals across the lifespan, as well as couples and families. If you’re unsure who to book with, we’re happy to help match you with the right provider.
Do I have to talk about trauma right away?
No. You move at your own pace. Safety and trust come first.
