The Power of Rhythm:

A Creative Path to Healing

This workshop explores the use of sound and rhythm as powerful tools for healing when traditional words fall short. We will incorporate rhythm and drumming exercises to help you process and move through difficult feelings or life experiences. This therapeutic modality integrates the brain, mind, and body, which is essential for addressing the symptoms caused by trauma and other mental health issues. Learn about your nervous system, the mind-body connection, and how to express, release, and heal in a safe way.

"The biggest takeaways that I have seen with this are a sense of connection to the body, reconnecting in a safe way with other humans, and inviting a sense of creativity and playfulness when trauma therapy can often feel very heavy."

Meet Dr. Jessica Hoggle

Dr. Jessica Hoggle, DSW, LICSW, is a licensed clinical social worker specializing in trauma therapy. With a strong background in psychology and social work, she has extensive experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Dr. Hoggle integrates innovative body-based practices, such as therapeutic drumming, into her therapy to support holistic healing and help her clients thrive.

Why Drumming?

Dr. Jessica Hoggle discovered the healing power of drumming after a colleague introduced her to an African drumming circle. This experience opened her eyes to new possibilities beyond traditional talk therapy, which often falls short of addressing the physical manifestation of trauma. Convinced that healing requires engaging both the mind and body, Dr. Hoggle began integrating drumming into her therapy sessions. The results were remarkable, leading her to delve deeper into the science behind drumming’s benefits. Her research, conducted as part of her Doctorate in Social Work, revealed significant mental health improvements and increased immune responses in participants, laying the groundwork for drumming as a valuable tool in trauma recovery.
